Eau Agglo Perpignan Méditerranée (EAPM) is proud to announce a significant step forward for water management in France with the installation of Kamstrup smart meters for all its consumers, amounting to more than 120,000 meters in total – a national first of this scale.
To date, Since 1 January 2024, more than 30,000 smart meters have already been installed, promising to revolutionise water management through cutting-edge technology, such as advanced leak detection and measurement accuracy. Initial results have seen 120 leaks detected as of 7 November 2024.
"The solution proposed by Eau Agglo and Kamstrup seemed the best suited to address the challenges of protecting the Perpignan Méditerranée Métropole resources," says Robert VILA, President of Perpignan Méditerranée Métropole.
"We are very proud of our partnership with a visionary community. Together, we can advance resource protection actions in the Catalan region," says Eric de Saint Martin, General Manager, EAPM.
Kamstrup's flowIQ® 2200 meters offer unparalleled accuracy thanks to ultrasonic technology, capable of detecting and measuring the smallest water consumptions. This accuracy ensures fair billing for consumers while enabling optimised water resource management.
These meters incorporate acoustic leak detection, a sophisticated technology that continuously picks up noises in the network. This allows for early detection of leaks, even the smallest ones, thereby reducing water losses and preventing potential damage to infrastructure.
Known for their perfect sealing, these meters are highly durable, with a battery life that can reach up to 20 years, thus minimising maintenance needs and reducing operational costs.
The detailed data analysis provided by these meters allows for a better understanding of consumption patterns and critical points in the network. This helps Eau Agglo Perpignan Méditerranée identify risk areas, manage the network with great responsiveness, and plan strategic and targeted infrastructure investments.
