Water: Simple, economic, and precise meter reading
The Kamstrup USB Meter Reader is a low-cost, fast, and economical solution that reads water meters quickly and easily.
The start package provides you with an inexpensive wireless reading system, with no need for a subscription. You can reduce your consumption of time and resources to a minimum as it takes less than 15 minutes to put the system into operation and only a few seconds to read one meter.
If your meters are regularly read, it is quick and easy to gauge consumption and find leaks or other irregularities which saves water, reduces the individual water bill, and improves your customer service.
Pocket size meter reader
USB Meter Reader is a compact item which fits comfortably in a pocket, even with the power pack, making it easy to transport. Within seconds, consumption readings are received, and this data is easily transferred to a PC. Software can be downloaded from the Kamstrup website.
Flexible and easy to use
Each meter is entered in the PC program by entering the meter number and installation address, if any. If more than one USB Meter Reader is used in a system, or if there are many energy meters, then these can be grouped and linked to a specific USB Meter Reader.
This is useful for landlords and property management companies who look after blocks of apartments as each block can be assigned to a unique USB Meter Reader. The meter list can be transferred to the USB Meter Reader when it is connected to a PC or wirelessly when it is connected to the USB power supply.
This exchange of data is carried out quickly and automatically. Data can be exported in a variety of formats, allowing for it to be viewed and used in a way that best suits the customer’s requirements.
This mobile meter reading solution includes everything from the meter reading hardware to a user-friendly meter data management system.
How to use the USB Meter Reader
The Kamstrup USB Meter Reader reads Kamstrup electricity, heat, cooling and water meters which are fitted with a radio module.
You create the individual meters by entering meter number and possible installation address in PC Base. If the system in question includes many meters or you have more than one USB Reader, the meters can be grouped and linked to a specific USB Reader.
When you have transferred a meter list to the USB Reader, you connect it to a Power Pack (power supply) after which the reading starts automatically.
In order to save power, the USB Reader has a built-in movement sensor, which switches off the power if you are not moving and when all meters have been read.
How to read your meters
A green and an orange light emitting diode inform you about the actual reading status. When the reading is finished, you move the USB Reader from the Power Pack to the PC’s USB connector. All reading data will now be automatically transferred to PC Base. The program also automatically informs you of missing meter readings, if any.
If you use more than one USB Reader, it will be an advantage to have one USB Reader permanently mounted in the PC. In this way, meter lists and reading data will be wirelessly exchanged between each USB Reader and PC Base. The wireless data exchange is carried out fast and automatically.
You can also connect USB Reader to your Windows laptop computer or tablet. In this way, you have the USB program with you during the reading, and you can always follow the progress of the reading on the screen.
How to export your meter data
In PC Base, you can choose to view the data of each individual meter or the data of all meters in a total overview.
You can export data in XLS format to spreadsheet programs, in CSV format to billing programs or to a file in PDF format.
Finally, you can send data to a printer.
