Innovative cooling metering solution for Sunway BIGBOX focuses on energy efficiency and operational optimisation 

As one of Johor’s most anticipated mixed-use developments, Sunway BIGBOX is the first in Malaysia to open a hybrid retail park that covers 24 acres of area and will serve as a hub for retail, entertainment, and commercial spaces.

To ensure the development achieves its sustainability goals, Sunway Property & Facility Management required a precise and reliable cooling metering solution that would enable them to monitor and optimise energy usage from day one.

Focus on energy efficiency from the start 

Managing energy consumption in a large-scale project like Sunway BIGBOX required a solution that could accurately track cooling energy usage, optimize energy efficiency, and support the facility's long-term sustainability.

Kamstrup cooling meters transformed the energy management 

Kamstrup provided 250 cooling meters strategically placed across Sunway BIGBOX. These meters, integrated with BACnet communication protocols, enabled real-time data collection and seamless connectivity with Sunway’s building management system (BMS). 

Installed early in the development phase, the cooling meters provided Sunway Property with detailed energy consumption data, allowing the facility management team to optimise cooling energy usage right from the start. This not only ensured operational efficiency but also laid the foundation for long-term sustainability. 

With the implementation of Kamstrup cooling meters, Sunway BIGBOX has been able to establish a more streamlined approach to energy management. The facility management team now benefits from real-time data, enabling quicker adjustments to optimise energy usage and reduce waste. This has not only enhanced the operational efficiency of the cooling systems but has also reinforced Sunway’s commitment to sustainability.
