Frederik Salling
Title: DevOps Infrastructure Engineer
Education: BA degree in Software Technology
My typical workday:
Usually when I’m at the office my day starts with getting a bit of breakfast in the cantine and a cup of coffee, then check mail and start working.
It often consists of writing code or updating modules, working on requests from our internal customers with new environments or changes to existing environments. Later I will have lunch together with my team. We have standup meetings 3 times a week where we coordinate tasks and discuss what we are currently working on.
What motivates me to work in Kamstrup:
What motivates me is the opportunity to help others, especially my colleagues. Whether it's optimizing processes or solving technical challenges.
Can you describe your career path so far?
After university I got a transitioned from being a student worker as a Backend Developer into a full-time position. It was a mix of backend development and DevOps work like I do today. I was only there for half a year before a tried to create a startup with a friend from my childhood. We worked on it for a year before we had to give up on the dream.
I was then at 2 places, the first as a frontend developer that was a bit of a miscast of where my passion was. I then got a position as a half DevOps and half Backend developer. Then I got offered a full time DevOps position at Kamstrup and have been here ever since.
The best thing about my job:
The flexibility in the workplace and that I get to build stuff for others that they are going to use
My advice for people who are considering applying for a job at Kamstrup:
I can only recommend Kamstrup, the culture and focus on work/life balance is great. Kamstrup is also a big place with a big opportunity to try different things and find what you are passionate about.
Fun fact:
I learned to drink coffee from instant coffee, and it took more than a year to prefer regular coffee over instant coffee.
