Gävle Energi AB, Sweden
A single automated meter reading system comprising 48,000 energy metering points operates with very high performance in the area of Gävle.
Kamstrup responsibility
Less than 3 years after the first remote read meter was installed in the district of Brynäs, the local utility Gävle Energi AB has finished deploying automated metering reading for all of it´s 48,000 meters in the network.
Kamstrup is the main contractor for this system for electricity and heat and has the overall responsibility for the performance.
The AMR system is based on the Kamstrup EMS 10 platform and the Kamstrup delivery includes all hardware, all communication equipment, EMS 10 system, engineering, installation and commissioning.
After trialing with a performance of +99% Kamstrup performed a site acceptance test and handed over the system in the fall of 2008.

AMR System Description
The AMR is integrated with the Customer Information System for invoicing.
Communication technology from the data concentrators to the EMS 10 AMR system is cable or GSM/GPRS.
All heat and electricity meters are Kamstrup make, performing monthly, hourly or even 15 min. values (electricity)
Communication approach: meters – central system
The media for communication between the data concentrators and the 48,000 installed energy meters is radio; a well proven technology able to propagate over long distances.
