New Energy Meter Speaks Several Languages
September 16, 2011
A long time ago, an energy meter should only measure energy. Modern energy meters are small intelligent computers that, besides accurate billing, offer remote reading and data analysis in order to facilitate energy savings and operations optimisation of the energy supply.
The newest energy meter from Kamstrup, MULTICAL 602, is no exception. The meter for combined measuring of heat and cooling follows the popular MULTICAL 601 and is a breakthrough in the field of communication.
Unlimited possibilities for remote reading
An unprecedented large number of communication module variants offers the possibility of receiving data from MULTICAL 602 in more or less all types of energy grids – whether of a multi-energy supply, a radio network, an industrial automation system, smart grid or smart home – MULTICAL 602 has been developed to meet as many functional requirements as possible and offers a high degree of flexibility and adaptation.
Several languages
MULTICAL 602 handles both wired communication via LON, SIOX, Metasys N2, Ethernet/IP and M-Bus and wireless communication via radio, Wireless M-Bus, ZigBee, GSM/GPRS and High Power RadioRouter. The integrated Real Time Clock simplifies the adaptation of the meter to many different applications, independent of the readout method.
Full power on radio
The High Power RadioRouter module fulfils the demand for increased transmitting power compared to traditional radio communication. Both GSM/GPRS, Ethernet and High Power RadioRouter demand a High Power supply module that supplies more electricity than traditional supply modules. The High Power supply module uses Switch Mode technology. The meter can be both mains and battery supplied.
Accurate analysis
The info logger in the meter logs every irregularity in the system, and the meter saves consumption data for 15 years, 36 months, 460 days and 1392 hours. An invaluable tool for operations monitoring and security of supply.
