Kamstrup Joins the Z-Wave Alliance
Kamstrup, the Danish manufacturer of metering solutions, now joins one of the leading industry consortia in the field of home energy control solutions. Becoming a member of the Z-Wave Alliance confirms the leading position of Kamstrup as a manufacturer of smart metering solutions supporting energy-saving intelligent home networks.
The Z-Wave Alliance has standardized the home automation technology developed by Zensys. It is an international consortium of manufacturers established in order to supervise the interoperability of Z-Wave products.
Z-Wave technology is a 2-way wireless communications protocol for smart metering products using low-power radio frequency.
Over 300 home automation products are already on the market ranging from HVAC-devices and thermostats to entertainment and security systems. Z-Wave’s Advanced Energy Control (AEC) Framework allows energy providers and smart metering manufacturers to establish an intelligent, forward-looking and environmentally-friendly energy management system for households.
The integration of Z-Wave technology into Kamstrup’s meter modules will allow energy consumption data to be sent to smart energy displays, home automation centres and energy suppliers.

With the Z-Wave technology the Kamstrup electricity meter will gain interoperability with over 300 products from the areas of smart metering and home automation. The house owner with a Kamstrup electricity meter will be able to monitor his energy consumption via the home automation system.
The energy saving perspective is one of the greatest advantages of the Z-Wave initiative. It belongs to the core business of Kamstrup to offer energy saving solutions to utilities. The Z-Wave module will make the meter more attractive to utilities that wish to offer energy saving services to their customers as the Z-Wave technology is designed to strengthen the energy awareness of the individual consumer.
